Youth Leadership Program
If you are passionate about supporting others who are grieving, are an alum of a Lumara program, and are between the ages of fourteen and twenty-nine, reach out for a conversation. There’s a remarkable group of humans your age who are helping create a world where young people do not have to grieve alone—and they are just one click away.
Program Details
- Ages served: 14 to 29 years
- Alumni of any Lumara program may apply
- Year-round program
- Approximately two to three hours per month of virtual meetings
- Additional volunteer roles at Lumara programs (Youth Retreat, Circles of Strength, Camp Kerry, and more)
- Training and support provided by Lumara staff
- Application required (new and returning applicants)
This program offers participants the opportunity to develop meaningful leadership skills while deepening their connections with other bereaved youth. Applicants should be prepared to make a steady, year-round commitment, which includes approximately two to three hours per month in virtual meetings, as well as additional time volunteering on committees and participating in supportive roles at Lumara programs such as the Youth Retreat, Circles of Strength, and Camp Kerry.
Youth leaders should be at a reasonably comfortable place in their own wellness journey and open to taking initiative in mentoring, guiding, and supporting others who are grieving. Training and support are provided by Lumara staff, including for those involved in education, outreach, or leadership at the Spring Youth Retreat or Fall Camp Kerry program.
