Our Approach

Grief Education

We live in a society that is reluctant to talk about death or grief, even though these are universal human experiences.

Grief Education

At Lumara, we are actively changing this norm through grief education. If we don’t create intentional space for talking and learning about grief, isolation and misunderstanding will only get bigger.

We offer customized training and workshops for corporations, counsellors, educators, healthcare providers, students and volunteers. Our goal is to open up new conversations about grief that will equip people with tools to take care of their own grief and the grief of those they work with and care for.

All our workshops and presentations include the wisdom of Lumara participants with lived experience of loss. Reach out to us and our team will work with you to create a life-affirming conversation about death and grief for your employees, students and community members.

Let’s face it. Death and grief are difficult topics, and we live in a society that would prefer to avoid them.

Youth Leadership Program

Many adults struggle to know how to meaningfully connect with young people who are grieving. Yet over many years at Lumara, we’ve seen that youth themselves often have a remarkable capacity to meet one another with compassion, honesty, and understanding. Lumara’s Youth Leadership Program was inspired by them and created with them in mind.
