Minecraft Virtual Support Group for Grieving Kids

Minecraft is most likely a name you’ve heard before. It’s one of the world’s most popular video games, often described as a virtual sandbox or compared to a digital LEGO world where players can build, explore, and create freely.

Minecraft Virtual Support Group

Lumaria is a very special Minecraft realm created by one of Lumara’s therapists specifically to support children who are coping with loss and grief.

Never before in Lumara’s almost twenty-year history has a children’s grief group been met with such enthusiasm, curiosity, and dedicated participation from the kids involved.

Curious yourself?

We invite you to reach out to our Minecraft group therapist to chat, hear why this approach is so effective for grieving children, and learn what all the excitement is about.

This monthly virtual group brings together grieving children ages seven to twelve in a Minecraft world created especially for them. Facilitated by one of Lumara’s therapists, the group offers a chance for kids to connect with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one, all while having fun building, creating, and exploring in a familiar and engaging online space.

The group takes place in Minecraft’s Bedrock Edition, which can be downloaded onto most devices. Participants will also need a second device for Zoom so they can chat with one another while they play. Because meaningful connection is important, space is limited to eight players.
