Team Captain

Many of us imagined running the 2021 Scotiabank Vancouver Charity Challenge in person this year; sweating as a team, our friends and family cheering from the sidelines. While it’s disappointing that we won’t be together again this year as a result of the pandemic, vaccines are on their way and there is a lot of reason to be hopeful that we will resume to some sort of normal soon.

While we wait for that day to come, getting out and getting active is an important way to maintain our overall health, both physically and mentally. That’s why I am thrilled to host this year’s “virtual race” as your Camp Kerry Charity Challenge Team Captain. I will be bringing together a ‘virtual race’ team to raise funds in support of the Camp Kerry Society and I hope you will join me.

3 WAYS TO PARTICIPATE

Be a part of the virtual support team working towards our individual running goals. Choose from a half-marathon, 5k – or whatever distance you wish to challenge yourself with.

Run together (but apart):

For those that want to unite as a team (in spirit), I’ll be holding the virtual race on June 27th at 8am. There is no timing, no finish line freezies, and definitely no high fives… but it’s a way to accomplish a feat bonded as a team during these isolating times. I’ll put together a WhatsApp group for us to cheer each other on, share some positivity and photos of our success.

Run on your own:

Run at your own pace how and when it works for you

Donate to support the team:

If you are unable to participate, but still wish to support the team, we would greatly appreciate a donation as we work towards reaching our event’s fundraising goal.

In the past the Charity Challenge has helped the Camp Kerry Society raise a considerable amount of money that plays a vital role in the organization’s operations. As this crisis continues and Canadians face grief, loss, anxiety and other mental health challenges, Camp Kerry’s support services will be more important than ever. This is why I hope you’ll join me in running and fundraising for those who are grieving.

More virtual race information can be found below. I hope you’ll join us!

The Charity Challenge

The Scotiabank Charity Challenge provides a unique opportunity for people just like you to help make a difference while taking personal time for self-care. One of the benefits to this years virtual event is that it offers participants flexible start times with a number of race options. Choose your distance (21K, 10K, 5K, 1K Kids race, Repeat Challenge, Threepeat Challenge) and select the date(s) you want to walk, wheel or run your way to the finish line (anytime between June 2 and July 5, 2021).

To help charities out, participants receive a customizable fundraising page so that friends and family members can sponsor them for the event. Every dollar raised for Team Camp Kerry will be counted in the Charity Challenge and go towards much needed bereavement supports for children, youth and families in addition to our support programs for First Responders who attend from all across Canada.
