Education & Workshops

Normalizing conversations about death, dying and bereavement in Canada is one of the goals of Lumara, for it is a means in which we create capacity in the communities we serve. Since our inception, thousands across the country have attended our workshops, and many have participated in our training. Some of those who have requested our expertise include; Universities, Health Authorities, Hospices, Counsellors, Social Workers, Nurses, Doctors, Police Agencies, Veterans and more.

Our Executive Director, Dr. Heather Mohan, has been working in the fields of palliative and bereavement care for nearly three decades. She has taught at a number of universities and colleges and maintains status on the faculty of medicine at the University of British Columbia. Her knowledge along with the talents of our highly diverse team provide an abundance of experience in the fields of Palliative/Hospice Care, Emergency Response, Child & Youth Care, Mental Health, Education and Counselling.

Currently, we offer training modules and workshops for counsellors, educators, healthcare providers, students, group facilitators, and volunteers. Members of our team can be booked to provide workshops tailored to meet your unique needs. All presentations are interactive, informal and inspiring. Many of these educational opportunities are available both in person and online.
