2nd Annual Bidgood Memorial Hockey Tournament: March 11, 2017

You are invited to attend the 2nd Annual Bidgood Memorial Hockey Day Tournament on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Asphodel-Norwood Ontario arena! The full day of family fun begins at 7am Eastern Standard Time and will include; prizes, a bake sale, a licensed bar, silent auction, great community spirit, and of course – good old Canadian HOCKEY!

The tournament has been organized with great enthusiasm by Tyler and Dayna Leeper, Seamus McDougall, Steve Walsh, Laura Young, and Brooke Bidgood in honour of James Bidgood; husband, father, son, brother and friend to many.

For the second consecutive year, proceeds will be directed to the Camp Kerry Ontario family bereavement retreat program.

James Bidgood…

James Bidgood, owner of Bidgood Builders – a construction company in Ontario – was a well-respected and a trusted member of his community. Those that knew him recall the deep love he had for his family and how much he enjoyed living life through his passions of sports and the great outdoors. James was often known to be the life of the party because he not only worked hard, but he played hard as well.

Unfortunately, it was through his adventurous life-style on February 19, 2015 where James would suddenly meet his fate in an accident involving his snowmobile and a motor vehicle.

Though the heart-ache of his loss is felt by many, James’ generous and loving spirit continues to live on as he inspires more and more people to do good each and every day. Both through his community – which has implemented the “One for James” tradition at their local Tim Horton’s – and through his adoring wife Brooke, and their three beautiful children – Maggie, Jesse, and Griffin – who champion themselves to help others in need.

Camp Kerry Ontario and all of its warmth and people have been absolutely instrumental in our ability to survive and to thrive as a family.

Camp provides a soft place to land where we feel loved and understood; where we can just be.

After our first experience at camp our children Maggie, Jesse and Griffin wouldn’t let me leave the property until I promised we would return the following year.

James’ giving spirit and overflowing heart, his legacy of helping others and paying it forward is a perfect fit. There was no question where our fundraising efforts would be directed.
