Connections: Beyond the Virus

October 19 – November 23

4:30pm – 5:30pm PST, 7:30pm – 8:30pm EST, 8:30pm – 9:30 pm EST

As people face a time of increased anxiety, fear and isolation in the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic, those, who are coping with bereavement, are increasingly vulnerable. Quite simply, COVID-19 has heightened the risks for people to experience complicated grief. A recent article in the Globe and Mail noted that “restrictive policies meant to reduce disease transmission are causing traumatic death experiences for many residents, family members and staff.” Layered on top of this trauma is the additional impact of significant isolation for those left behind to grieve.

At the Camp Kerry Society, we believe that forging connections now is more important than ever. This 6-week online program provides opportunities for adults, who have been bereaved during COVID-19, to connect and to share their experiences of loss in a supportive, compassionate environment with others who understand the unique challenges of losing a loved one during a pandemic. In this group participants will find a mutually compassionate space where they can voice their feelings, honour their loved ones and learn (discover and explore) strategies that can assist them in coping and self-caring as they grieve.
