About

Lumara’s Vancouver Island Youth Retreat

Since 2007, Lumara has successfully served thousands of individuals and families through our unique bereavement retreat program, “Camp Kerry”. We currently run Camp Kerry Retreats for families and youth.

Our youth retreats have occurred at various locations across Canada, and we are excited to be operating one on Vancouver Island for the very first time!

The Island Youth Retreat will be an opportunity for youth impacted by serious illness, grief and loss to find a sense of connection, healing and hope.

We know that going through adolescents can be difficult, and even more so for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. Often a loss can lead to chronic depression, anxiety, and feelings of complete isolation. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way…

If you are between the ages of 13-18, and would like an opportunity to connect with peers who understand what you’re going through then attending the Vancouver Island Youth Retreat might be one of the best experiences you’ve had in a really long time.

Many of our past participants from former years will be the first to say that going to a Camp Kerry Youth retreat changed their lives. Many of these youth are still connected with one another today – some for more than ten years!

What to expect

Something For Everyone!

During the youth retreat, participants will experience three nights camping at Bella Pacifica, daily surf lessons in Tofino, hiking, campfires as well as an array of healing modalities including Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Peer Support Groups, Individual Counselling, and much much more.

Perhaps the greatest asset one will receive through attendance of this retreat is a network of peer support – “friends”. Essentially, these supports can become lifelines that will last for years and help during the toughest of times.
