“Life is Hard and Grief is Harder”
In 2020, all of Camp Kerry’s programs went online. Yet the COVID-19 restrictions also gave us an opportunity to envision new ways of cultivating community, including creating the virtual perinatal loss group.
The format allowed women and families from communities across Canada to participate in our grief support groups. Trish and Kayren shared how freeing it was to be vulnerable with people they wouldn’t run into in other situations.

Styles of Grieving with Dr. Hajnal
While the process of grieving is universal – we all grieve – grief looks different on everyone. Your relationship with the loss (losses) is unique and so too will be your experience of those losses. At the same time, it can be helpful to see yourself or others in their grief as having a particular style.

Introducing the Rose Family Student Bursary
In memory of Rob Rose, we are pleased to introduce the Rose Family Student Bursary. This fund will provide financial support to youth who have suffered the loss of a parent as they pursue their post-secondary studies.
YOU CAN Make a difference
In Canada there is little to no government funding designated for bereavement care, yet it is well documented that unresolved grief can lead to an array of mental health concerns and undesirable outcomes including; anxiety, depression, substance abuse, lateral violence, and more.
For every loss, it is estimated that at least five people will be significantly impacted, yet very few have access to adequate long-term supports.
Every donation to LUMARA is used to help provide support to children, youth, adults, and families impacted by loss and to those living with a serious illness. As a result of people like you, lives are being transformed across Canada.
